What is good anti-virus software for Window Vista?
drbubbles24 asked:
I’m looking for a descent anti-virus software for Windows Vista that is inexpensive, not a memory hog, and does not cause Windows drastically slow down while booting and operating. Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I use AVG Free, the download is in my source. It’s pretty lightweight.
My preference goes with AVG too. If all you need is anti-virus and definition updates, their free version is perfect. I use it on any/all Windows machines I repair.
You can download it directly from their site, to be sure you get a clean copy.
note: as you go through the screens to download it, they will try to sale you the full version, so just be sure to click the links for free AVG.
The best protection for your computer is installing an internet security program. I tested several and found ESET Smart Securisty the best.
You can however protect your computer very well with free programs. I would not rely on just one program. Install a couple of programs that work very well together.
Here is a suggestion for you
Anti virus and firewall pro
or
in combination with
Threatfire is an anti virus, that can be installed next to any other anti virus program on the same computer
This is a very good program, that completely runs in the background
yep…nod32 is da best…its not heavy in the memory…doent slow down yur computer…in fact it has the best scanning speeds compared to other antiviruses…….but if ya looking for a free software…avast is wicked
Hi drbubbles24,
You want to make sure you’re using an anti-virus program that will work well with your OS, so Microsoft actually put up some information to help you choose a program that will work with whichever Microsoft OS you have.
Check it out here:.
